Asheville Symphony Chorus
Auditions
Do you love to make music? We'd love for you to join ASC and help us bring the beauty of classical music and beyond to Western North Carolina. We rehearse once per week on Tuesday nights from 7pm-9:30pm at First Congregational United Church of Christ in downtown Asheville. We warm up. We practice hard. We have a lot of fun.
ASC holds auditions each August and January. For the 2025-2026 season, auditions will run as follows:
At this time, we are hearing auditions for all voice parts, but are particularly seeking tenors, basses, and altos.
About the 2025-2026 program: This year promises to be a thrilling experience for both our members and our audience. In the fall, ASC will perform an independent concert of American choral composers, centered around John Corigliano's brilliant 16-minute piece for chorus and orchestra, Fern Hill.
Then, in December, ASC will join the Asheville Symphony Orchestra for what's become a wildly popular multi-concert program of Handel's Messiah, under the baton of ASO Director Darko Buterac. We'll round out the holiday season with our locally beloved Messiah Sing-along.
In April 2026, ASC will join the ASO again to perform Mozart's Requiem for ASO's Masterworks 6 concert.
ASC is committed to diversity and inclusivity in our roster. We welcome auditions from adults of all vocal backgrounds. If you've sung in a church choir, college chorale, jazz choir, musical theater, opera, a band, or just in the shower, we'd love to hear you and see if we'd be a good fit together.
